About CIC and its software modernization work

Computer Information Concepts is an established software business serving county and city governments. It is moving a portfolio of Windows-based applications into an integrated software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite. Its engineering organization supports existing products while developing the next generation of web applications, with more engineering investment shifting toward modernization as products transition.

For this role, the focus is on building reliable features that reflect how local-government customers actually work. Engineers collaborate with product design and senior frontend, backend, and platform colleagues while helping establish patterns for the growing SaaS platform.

What you will build and the technology stack

You will own scoped features across a React and TypeScript frontend, C#/.NET APIs, and SQL Server data. That ownership includes understanding the business workflow, discussing designs, implementing the interface and supporting APIs, testing the feature, and following it into production. Success depends on maintainable software, effective collaboration, and a growing understanding of customer workflows.

The frontend uses a feature-oriented structure. The backend follows vertical slice architecture with ASP.NET Core, EF Core, SQL Server, and Azure. CIC welcomes applicants who have used another backend web framework and are ready to become productive in C#/.NET. Strong React and TypeScript production experience remains a core requirement.

Key responsibilities

Deliver complete features: build workflow-focused functionality across React, TypeScript, REST APIs, and relational data access, taking it from clarification and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and production follow-up.

Develop the backend: contribute to C#/.NET and EF Core code while deepening your knowledge of the stack. Design and consume REST APIs with validation, error handling, and clear agreements between frontend and backend behavior.

Build usable interfaces: turn designs into accessible, responsive, maintainable forms, tables, approvals, permissions, and other data-intensive workflows. Work with the Product Design Lead to resolve interaction details and deliver a cohesive experience.

Improve shared UI patterns: reuse and strengthen shared components and the design system so different product areas behave consistently.

Protect data quality: work with relational schemas and an object-relational mapper (ORM), make safe data changes, and investigate correctness and performance problems. Help build imports and integrations that move customer data into the SaaS suite.

Test and diagnose: write unit and integration tests for important user behaviors and business rules. Investigate problems across browser state, network boundaries, application code, and database queries.

Collaborate on delivery: participate in backlog refinement, code review, pairing, and agile development using GitHub and Linear.

Use AI tools responsibly: use AI-assisted development thoughtfully while retaining responsibility for code quality and the effect of changes on customers.

Required qualifications

CIC is looking for the following experience and working skills:

At least three years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications.

Strong production experience with React and TypeScript.

Experience with a backend web framework such as C#/.NET, Java/Spring, Python/FastAPI or Flask, Node.js, or a comparable stack.

Sound REST API fundamentals, including validation, error handling, authentication flows, and debugging across the client and server.

Experience with relational databases and an ORM, including the ability to reason about schemas, queries, and data integrity.

Practical unit and integration testing experience across frontend and backend code.

Experience working with a product designer and interpreting design specifications.

Accessibility experience involving complex forms, data grids, keyboard interactions, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Fluency with Git collaboration and pull-request workflows.

Experience on a modern agile product team, working from an incremental backlog in Linear, Jira, or a comparable tool.

Practical use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools.

Strong interpersonal skills and a tactful, empathetic communication style.

Preferred qualifications

The following experience can strengthen an application:

Production work with C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, and SQL Server.

Contributions to a design system or component library, including experience with Storybook or Chromatic.

Azure or another cloud platform, with exposure to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

Greenfield or zero-to-one product development.

Finance, payroll, ERP, fintech, or local-government software experience.

Work in regulated or audit-focused product environments.

Salary and employee benefits

The advertised annual salary is US$100,000–US$140,000, with the offer depending on experience. This is a full-time employment opportunity. CIC lists these benefits:

Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the company paying 75% of monthly premiums.

A 401(k) retirement plan with company contributions.

Vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays to support work-life balance.

Why consider joining CIC

This role offers ownership of meaningful web features from design through production, with direct collaboration with product design and senior engineers. Developers can help shape a new SaaS platform informed by decades of customer relationships and domain knowledge. The work involves complex forms, permissions, reporting, and data workflows used by the people running local governments. CIC describes a collaborative engineering team focused on practical delivery, maintainable systems, and continuous improvement.
